Acute Concussion

  • A “concussion” is considered a mild traumatic brain injury

  • An “acute concussion” refers to the initial 10-14 days after the head injury where temporary symptoms like headaches, dizziness, disorientation, nausea, vomiting, and even amnesia are experienced

  • A concussion can be caused by a hit to the head or body

  • With acute concussions, the brain experiences both temporary physiological (i.e., microscopic cell damage) and metabolic changes (i.e., the brain needs more energy to recover, but restricts blood flow to the area)

  • At our clinic, a chiropractor can perform a neurological examination to determine if you have a concussion.

  • A proper chiropractic treatment plan tailored to your needs can help you recover and get you back to your daily activities as soon as possible
