Frozen Shoulder

  • there are 3 stages to “frozen shoulder”:

  1. Freezing - (2-9 months) any movement causes pain, and you start noticing your range of motion is decreasing

  2. Frozen - (4-12 months) pain is less, but joint stiffness is so significant that you have trouble doing everyday tasks (i.e., putting on clothing)

  3. Thawing - (5-24 months) range-of-motion gradually improves and can return to normal

  • causes are not exactly known, but you are at HIGHER risk if you;

    • Are 40 years or older (especially women)

    • Recently had a shoulder injury where you were required to keep it still

    • Have underlying systemic conditions like diabetes, thyroid issues, Parkinson’s disease
