ACL Tear
The Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) is located in the middle of the knee. It helps stabilize the knee joint during rotational movement by preventing abnormal range of motion.
ACL injury commonly occurs in sports from changing directions. ACL injuries can also be caused by collisions in sports.
A “popping” sound is commonly heard when the ACL is torn. Other symptoms include swelling, knee pain, difficulty walking, limited ROM, knee buckling.
How We Can Help
At Fine Tuned Health and Performance our chiropractor can perform a physical assessment using a series of tests to determine if you have an ACL tear. An MRI scan may also be requested to determine if the ACL is torn.
Our chiropractor will work with you to manage your ACL injury by designing a treatment plan to increase knee stability, strength and balance.
In certain cases surgical reconstruction may be required to treat the ACL tear. Through chiropractic care we can design a 6-12 month postoperative treatment plan following the surgeon’s guidelines to help reduce pain, manage swelling, increase range of motion, improve strength and stability and return to regular activities of daily living.
