Meniscal Injury
The meniscus is a ligament that plays a role in absorbing force and is situated between the bone of the thigh and the bone of the shin. There are two menisci in the knee.
Symptoms of a meniscal tear include, but aren’t limited to: knee pain, swelling at the knee, knee locking, stiffness, popping, reduced range of motion.
You can tear your meniscus from activities involving powerful rotation or twisting movements. Wear and tear over time can also lead to a torn meniscus.
How We Can Help
Our chiropractor can perform a physical exam to evaluate if you have a torn meniscus. Through exercise rehabilitation and chiropractic techniques, we can improve knee strength, stability, and increase range of motion.
In some incidences surgery may be required to repair or remove the meniscus.
A postoperative chiropractic treatment program can help patients recover from knee surgery and return to the tasks of daily living.
