Meniscal Injury

  • The meniscus is a ligament that plays a role in absorbing force and is situated between the bone of the thigh and the bone of the shin. There are two menisci in the knee.

  • Symptoms of a meniscal tear include, but aren’t limited to: knee pain, swelling at the knee, knee locking, stiffness, popping, reduced range of motion.

  • You can tear your meniscus from activities involving powerful rotation or twisting movements. Wear and tear over time can also lead to a torn meniscus.

How We Can Help

  • Our chiropractor can perform a physical exam to evaluate if you have a torn meniscus. Through exercise rehabilitation and chiropractic techniques, we can improve knee strength, stability, and increase range of motion.

  • In some incidences surgery may be required to repair or remove the meniscus.

  • A postoperative chiropractic treatment program can help patients recover from knee surgery and return to the tasks of daily living.
