Rotator Cuff Tear

The Shoulder joint is extremely mobile but has poor stability. There are four muscles (subscapularis, supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor) that constitute the rotator cuff. These muscles help stabilize the shoulder.

The risk for tearing your rotator cuff increases with age. Other risk factors are poor posture, genetics, and osteoarthritis. Sports injury and overuse can also lead to rotator cuff injury.

A rotator cuff tear is painful and can interfere with daily tasks, overhead movements, and sleeping.

At Fine Tuned Health and Performance, our chiropractor can perform a physical assessment to determine if you have a rotator cuff injury. Additionally, an MRI can help determine if the rotator cuff is torn as well as the severity of the tear. In some cases, surgery may be required for a full tear.

Chiropractic care can assist with post operative and non-surgical treatment. A proper exercise therapy treatment plan through chiropractic care will be designed to strengthen the necessary muscles and stabilize the shoulder joint.
